Commissioner for Oaths
A Commissioner for Oaths is appointed by the Lord Chancellor. The powers granted are to administer oaths, take affidavits and statutory declarations.
This is an appointment automatically granted to certain legal professionals who are in practice in their respective profession or to some others because of their particular position or role in the legal system.
The list of the legal professionals who are Commissioners for Oaths automatically are:-
- Fellows of the Institute of Legal Executives
- Notary Publics
- Licensed Conveyancers

How much does it cost?
We charge £10 to administer Oaths, take affidavits and statutory declarations. You must attend our office with Photo ID (Passport or Driving Licence). You do not need an appontment for this purpose but please telephone our offices before attending.
Certification of Documents:
As Solicitors and Commissioners for Oaths, we can certify copies of documents as a true copy of the original. We charge a fee of £5.00 per certification. You must produce the original document for us to certify a copy on your behalf.
